First off, I apologize for the atrocity in this stamp, but it's part of my point. What do I mean by "Fake Recolor"? Well, I've noticed that there are more Sonic recolors that weren't made to be passed off as actual OCs, they were made to spite actual recolors, all OCs in general or just to get attention. These recolors edited official Sonic art and are given with cliche', exaggerated, Mary-Sue names and bios in the description and repeating how original they are (it's so obvious, you can read the sarcasm in it). I call these "OCs" Fake Recolors. I've found that there are actually more of these fake recolors than actual recolors, which is sad. The people who make them think it's funny, but i think it's just pathetic and immature. It's just reinforcing a negative stereotype that all FCs are recolors (there are people who actually think that), like saying that all blonde people are dumb or all Muslims are terrorists (niether are true of course). So if you think it's funny to make fake recolor, you should consider how it makes you look.

I think generally all sonic fan characters are not considered "Original Characters" as all of them have designs and universes based off of the Sonic universe, which makes them Fan characters instead.
However I do agree that the majority of the Sonic fan characters lack the efficient creativity in them. I would think that many of them were created by children or young teenagers, who are still adapting to the new creativity/credibility of fanfiction.
Ugh, I hate when people do that. And worse of all, some of those get popular! I mean seriously? I'm always seeing a Mary Sue somewhere, mostly on kid art websites like Hatena. I may not be the most original, but at least I put actually effort and time on my OCs. And if I need help creating them, I 'll simply ask a friend.
well, what i'm talking about is when people take characters (they're usually official characters) and just change the color and give them names like "Mary-Sue the Hedgehog" or "Invincible the Fox" and give them exhagerated bios, they do it just to troll fan-characters and their owners.
